Why

Heart disease kills. When it doesn't, it tends to take the joy out of the lives people lead.

And we all want that to change.

What

CCP UK brings patients and carers together, in partnership with the clinicians, researchers and others working to make that change happen.

We are a patient and carer led registered charity, affiliated to the British Cardiovascular Society, bringing collective patient experience and thinking to where medicine needs it most.

How

This is done by working together, or on your own:

  • Being invited to sit as the patient representative on a committee of medical professionals
  • Providing design and oversight input to small and large cardiovascular research projects
  • Reading a new guideline before it's published and saying what's missing
  • Creating a plain language summary of a medical document or grant application
  • Advising on patients' views of new heart treatments and devices, as well as treatment pathways
  • Sitting as patient representative on the NHS bodies that measure how well heart care is working
